Last night I went on a powder ski hunt. I happened to stumble across a post on Facebook, and for once someone had posted a pair of skis my size! (and colour)
At a bargin price I got in their quick!
I have felt for a while now that my skiing has hit a plato, not really improving and still struggling with the deeper snow conditions. I came to a realisation last week when skiing heavy powder off the midi, maybe the reason I was landing on my face more than every one else could be the fact my skis are half the size of all those stood in the lift que next to me. With everyone supporting long fat skis I suddenly felt like my short narrow ones could be why I hadn't felt like I was improving recently.
I have always been a firm believer that your ability and skill isn't just about the kit you own, it should be about how you use it. Now I may have just proved this theory wrong.
I did buy those perfectly pink powder skis last night, and in my purchasing frenzy demanded that Jake my other half and I would head strait up to the slopes in the morning to test them out.
OH BOY! My world has just been revolutionised. I could float onto of the powder. Turns were smooth and could be done with ease. I face planted not once. I felt unstoppable!
