All too often we over look beautiful places in our world. Sometimes all it takes is a moment to look closer and appreciate the beauty.
I spend everyday on-top of the ocean, in a kayak showing people how beautiful our oceans are. I had started to feel like I knew it well. I was wrong, in-fact i'm not even close.
I was yet to see our oceans with fresh eyes, from the perspective of those creatures that call our deep blue seas home. I had been shallow, looking only at the surface. I needed to look deeper.
One of the things I love about the ocean is the colours. You can find every shade of blue, turquoise.... no wait... scrap that! You can find pretty much every bright colour in the rainbow. The ocean is full of life! Infact with out our oceans, there may never have been life on earth.
Sinking down towards a wreck still loaded with lorries and cargo, made me feel tiny. I had to calm my breathing and settle my nerves, panicking is not an option down here. I began to adjust to this new world and as you get used to sucking your air in and blowing bubbles out you get a brief glimpse of what it would be like to live in the ocean.
It's gobsmacking! Hundreds of shoals of fish glide silently through the water. Their curiosity is clear, as they cruise by checking you out. Their scales glinting as they weave their way through the clear blue sea.
Over the next few months I want to explore what I can to do keep the big blue healthy and happy.
After all it is my office!
